experience in the committee Kavanaugh parents for very long time all this one is in high school she's graduating high school this year but she was she joined only money as a kindergartener so Dad said been part of this community in the school for quite a while I have two other children I have my 8th grader been on TV he's going to graduating early man this year has also been part of school since Pre-K and Maya third one is a sixth grader at or she was part of a team on third grade and then she shipped it over to do a hip Madame Noire so I'm going to let you know I've been given the opportunity to have children participate in both schools that I'm as you can tell I'm very very passionate about education quranic education just taking something that I've been given the opportunity here in America doing so I do it so that's me like to share brother whadda you want to introduce yourself for years I think now and I've seen lots of change positive coming through the school similar to brother Fidelis my children are and I feel feel strongly about the method part of my time for this cause and serving our community the secretary I have two kids been naughty mom so I've been coming here for two years at the kids in there for quite a while now I've seen changing love to be part of the change in Health Challenge to something new comes out policies different strategies this year has been a different so it's always getting into the school and make it better every year Santa Clara Financial Three core members of the ESC and will see us right about that a minute then we are you to be a part of this committing it's been something that I've wanted to do for several years and I picked the lucky year of the kids I make without knowing it coming up on a year now I'm a join the ASC in January and I have a background in the medical field with nursing so I've been very lucky and honored to bring some of that experience into this school board so I look forward to snow Albion the speed limit every day I've currently got three kids and a tally man 1 1/8 1 and 7th morning kindergarten I think you know it as any volunteer project the main incentive to volunteers you get to be more involved and so instead of just problems and saying I owe you know somebody else can handle that or disengaging likes being active in and volunteering and putting the time and effort and then creating relationships with the with people in the school and the community we are very blessed to have this High School is Islamic school there the environment has been amazing for my kids and it's amazing to be part of that and and sacrificing time and energies to to make it the best that we can do it but he is on the sidelines with regard to volunteering or seeing issues like I think there's a lot of opportunity to to pick up a shovel and and and start making progress jackalope then finally we have two individuals to do special projects process mother-in-law and butter safe see Brothers if committee I also serve on the shura of the IR and we're a couple of other hats that the IRA and I'm also have multiple children at the school a hundred and I've been apart of this committee now for I so that some that's kind of a different party bus at work without further Ado what I'll do is I'll get quickly through these lies and then we'll get to the questions of parents have if you wanted to ask questions use the chat and you can show addresses questions that you have during the chat I will say though. if you try to save some of the questions as I go through the slides to the end. Probably be a little bit better to do than just stopped in the middle so we smell of us go to the next slide so some of the accomplishments of the last I would say 7 months we have a covid-19 task force for daily monitoring operations to committed one of the ensure that we have the the right people in place including medical professionals on the ground before school open during the school we can make sure we have a special group of people that can address those issues the committee is a policy-making committee and so we weren't make for the operations perspective we give as much support as we can to do ministry committee also contain which Administration on a phased approach to miss school this year in Charlotte as we go through this year and then into third quarter moon shuttle to Fort Worth quarter based on what was going on in the local community and school will have to do that. Face approach we work as you're very closely with the IR Grand committee particular brother Glenn to help get some stimulus dollars for school include did they IPTV it's a payroll help no idea which also comes from the federal government grants and their graphs specifically for small businesses that need support during covid-19 and I'm going to get both of them successfully accomplished boosted help Financial to 2 degrees I'm leaving the last time we had a successful fundraiser and show this year will look to continue that we'll have to figure out how we do our fundraiser based on covid-19 going to Beyonce again you sure we'll find out so this year like I said that our biggest focus is going to be long-term Financial stability we took a significant hit this year and because of covid-19 weather woman dropping with additional cost to make sure we're going to protect to help the Safety and Security of the school and the community so we did make some very Interventional determine decisions to take additional losses this year so that we can keep our school safe the long-term Financial stability is going to be a very big aspect of will we continue to do Post covid-19 show last we get through this year and we get past this this this time we'll recover it's just right now focus on the help and the safety of our school and our staff and our kids one of the things you do want to do is we want to compute increasing Middle School enrollment we wanted to change you know when you look at our grade we usually have a way when it goes from pre-k to about for 5th grade but when we get to 678 we do have opportunities to have more kids join our school so we're going to push her heavily this year in Charlotte going to try to increase our room in our middle school so we continue to help with I just want to make sure folks are aware of AC membership power AC members will become a c members Jared Vice chair and a secretary open come up when they come up every for three or four years depending on your our constitution the term is about 4 years on their constitution so at that point the chair device turn the 6-3 up to be in the shop open they get posted on the IR website the antique American do its own research into filling those positions either internally or externally and interviews are committed and once the decision is made by the s then it gets sent it to the school board to get final approval for those three members in the past it was approved by the shura I'm going forward is going to get through by the hour school board after processed and you know what need these three positions have two terms they can run for Purcell two consecutive terms so a maximum of eight years in the IR Constitution the additional officers that we have are based in the officers elected by The Arc committee the way we just committed as function is we we will always look at making sure we select based off of me so what does that mean is the last year we had a need for add additional education off 303 bar and sister had a need for someone have a focus on financial so we know brother who was very helpful in that so this is a needs-based fancy committee primarily for the reason because we are extremely action oriented you don't want us to sit at the table and just keep our heads we want to make actual activity for the school and then Progressive forward activities at the AC does Outsider Mike just want to take 5 Second school board was created with the new hierarchy Constitution about a year ago maybe a little more nasty thinking my head about a year ago School Board is a committee that reports directly to the ER senior actual representation for it as well this committee was created school board was committed was created to provide a support overarching support for all three schools of toys are spoken AR Rahman and ignore and the goal is to make sure the three the three schools are operating the three schools are operating in unison together and then try to determine if there's any issues that concern preschool weather safety security with his financials whatever is going to be the death committee Hobbs to work with the schools to resolve those issues of that committee assist like I said I'm already there to support preschool they already do have decision-making ability on behalf of the three schools based on the greater need of the other community Excel so it is a very positive School Board they are the members are well very well versed run sure Flex me against yes from Menace Med experience so he's a very well talented school board and it does function very well in terms of window screening committee needs it back when we had the reopening closed star school board to review our reopening plans that's very very good questions they provide a lot of good wedding and a lot of good feedback Sunday proving our building plans as well so they're good they're going to be ready to help us. Like I said that's the structure that exist today in our yard in terms of schools so the activities that we do just I'll be real quick here we like I said we focus on driving policy based on our mission in our vision for the school does not get into day-to-day operations of the school that is the administration's responsibility in the school manager they run the school the AFC does not cancel it what it does is once we receive updates from the administration from the school manager we also look at policies and procedures that we need to have but it is related to health and safety security financial compensation benefits these are the type of things that we discussed when we we just be determined if there's a policy that needs to be made then we will drive that policy with the administration work with demonstration come up the policy have an agreement and I can I vote at the air and then we passed that policy to be implemented so we are a policy-making committee we do provide some additional support Administration when they need it but you know we try to make sure that the administration is the one rainstorm we are here to support the school and make sure the long-term Vision in the strategy in the end of financial stability is is is maintained so many things that we do at these meetings like I said here we could get an update from the school show me review assessment and we have subcommittees today we have the covid-19 security subcommittee run by Sister ma she provides updates and if there's any issues or anything we need to discuss one around that but if you part of the opening buffets approach that gets discussed at the meeting but it was Aldi's in marketing subcommittee I'm trying to drive additional Revenue trying to drive and discipline Roman for the school we have a fundraiser for me which I usually try to run as we try to see how at the fundraiser Chelsea are there in a year we believe the fundraiser is a primary responsibility of the ESC to drive course you know all the teachers and all the school administration they're the ones that really make it work together, but in a week is he just started try to take a very important role in that mother I'm running to the past and the future will continue to look at things like the high school school expansion again we develop our subcommittees based on can we see her mission and vision and that's what's discussed at a teaser at these meetings so I want to be brave if we talk about some of the impacts of covid-19 parents are where number of schools for directly impacted we have a significant enrollment changes this year especially with the virtual versus hybrid vs one on one site we don't have a son a program we don't have a ice pack after school program clubs in the potty breaks have also been impacted so we look at Revenue we have a significant impact on Revenue this year we do have you know because teachers are working virtually for some of those teachers were working virtually and teachers on-site we saw the notice that there is a large you even use the case which is fine and that is up to the teachers but it does look at the end of the year were some of the best effective we have a lot Spenders this year to support the different models of hybrid vs. on-site saw the equipment and software that we purchased for the school in order to do that we do have additional bucket for substitute teachers in case attention to get we also I just went past it for furniture to sportage's model that we have virtual versus I mean hybrid in Virtual and then there's again Spieth room corporate health and safety equipment when you look at it we have significant impacts of our accounts control all that will make up some point but just want to make sure parents are aware of where Financial changes this year have been we have around 240 2045 students we did we get some Islamic relief from the irusa the earlier this year we spent that out provided after those parents needed it we did get a few people own perfect if we also got a conditional couple of grants from North Carolina state in the department Commerce cir help us talk to your network and say something special there as well so just making sure parents to know again this is part of the committee this is what we do is win make sure that the school has enough financial stability and even in this type of pandemic you're muted do you know I'm sorry bank account in all this week we try to support as much as we can again this is just a percentage of the full operational cost of the school the overall budget for the school runs up in the Millions cancel the operation cost of bounce that you see here is just a small percentage maybe I think it's 25 30% of the of the total spent so we run our year to year but just folks of where you know June and July we had a average we took a significant ahead of in August as Roma dropped and we spend extra dollars in terms of preparing to school to reopen we did get this in a traditional we get our opportunity scholarship fund in September and January there's always a quite a bit of a bump in September and January because our bank account because of the opportunity scholarship funds that we get from Motel on State revenues and expenses the net income from compared to last year do you have a significant various tissue revenues this year are going to be significantly Less almost 90 2009 $1,000 less Fisher we also we have sorry we have $91,000 for the additional none of this last year than we did this year so the variance here significant the variance kind of what it would have 20 cuz that we have around think it's around $80,000 or $180,000 deficit at the end of last year and we seen if we took took that jump about $91,000 this year in addition to the 80 because of covid-19 and for the moment so that's generally the financials what I try to do is I try to post a summary or 4 to the financials and they are yours I need a Lima school website so we'll continue to do that I think that one is already posted are the most updated one will get it out there after this December meeting monthly meeting and other notes we used to put out there is any updates and we have no information volume Us website we will have updates on solar every month at least Pizza recorder for parents to say I did send out a questionnaire for parents and we got some results from the questionnaires and some of things Quest. will get you some of this and we'll open up for questions and answers right after I stop talking so just want to make sure folks or where this is why I kind of developed the the PowerPoint presentation some some of it was based off of the questions what I got in a survey so we'll talk to address know what does ASD does vs. admin hope they have a dress that I told me that the prices will get to as well why is he is he not available for parents or just your concerns the ndac is is a governing as a policy-making we would like to have parents address concerns but it's covid-19 or operation to school with your ministration first formal but you don't find resolution with demonstration that's an numbers obviously going up and you know there's only I guess about either to weeks left until there's the winter break was there ever a consideration to have masks in the Pre-K classroom I think I'll take this question I'm going to be like good luck for your question that actually was raised in our last Covetous Force meeting we have a meeting every Friday from the library bring up all of the issues within the school related to covid-19 the answer your question is the research the the very updated medical research that we looked at and I'll be happy to provide those particular articles separate from this conversation show that really among that age group the spread of covid-19 the transmission has not changed from the research were used in the beginning of the school year which was among that age group transmission is not High Times it in that and we have a unique advantage that are Pre-K for students as you know are very isolated from the rest of the school so their costume as you know and for those who don't know is the brick building the very first door on the right when you walk up to the classroom and also they go on the playground separately from everybody and we highly recommend that these those students do wear masks but with that age group with that attention span and with the research we came to the conclusion that it would be best that we recommend and the additional guideline we added as of the last meeting was that if there is a parent who is very concerned and they want their kids to keep the mask on the whole time the students and administer excuse me the teachers in an Administration would work with that students and make sure the band so as of now the research really hasn't changed and then didn't have the numbers always had a great track record as far as isolated cases in the school so we don't plan to change it at this time but if you do fall into that category of one of your students who have the mask on all the time we are at the school that I absolutely will help enforce that I hope that answers your question at the dust thank you my second question is with regards to I know that there's already a hybrid option for the kg and I think it's through grade now when when will the next step be for those and I I completely understand that there's some parents out there who want their kids to be completely virtual but for those of us parents who are sending our kids to school when will there be an option to have them go the four days a week or at least when is the board considering that am I really am I'm looking for I can speak to them Charla the committee actually actually came up in the covid-19 task force meeting yesterday as well and it's something that the administration's already starting to think through they do I have a proposal of how they want to start to do a face approach for the 6th of May eighth grade for 3rd and 4th quarter that proposals being voted out within the task force it'll get better doubt with the IR we always need at your school Google or an IRA or approval to as we go through this phase of the moon is in fact the community and efficiently as a whole, so we're starting that process now to look at that proposal look at some of the options of how we can achieve that but there is definitely a find a cheap. I have a question I wanted to ask as as parents and your house we help the school I know there has been a deficit when it comes to Colbert there's been a lot of parents that have not been working of course a student soon as have been pulled out of school I know you do fundraising activities but has there any increase in fundraising or perhaps any way that the parents can help or in the cheaper is there plans to raise the tuition to kind of keep up with the working of the school Reese's Associated directly with our personal expense with your goals not your dress one-off items for example of covid-19 or a something that's supposed make a project to spend in school with tuition tuition to really be based off of the operational month-to-month expensive we have and making sure we meet that at a minimum we don't want to always pressure put the pressure on things to continuously play high tuition in very bad right now but that's not you know that should never be the approaches every time we have a deficit or an issue is to draw from that situation which men draw from current Eastern Time does me to have a much more broader set of options to see how we drive Revenue in a one of the big factors we have without Limon school being at the IRS facility is that we have very constrained capacity the red building cannot expand you know there's no way in just Mobility to rebuild or put extensions on on that building same thing with the white building so we are constrained in terms of what we can do to increase the full number of kids coming in for a school which Dan constrains the biggest Revenue aspect we get is from twisting right and so because of that until we have to be a little bit out of the box to think about how we're going to try to remove some of the deficit generate more revenue of the marketing effort that would wear those driving in the back of my foot is financials will start to come up with some more strategy to do that we do have the intention of having a fundraiser this year will it be brochure like last year so I mean I have many fundraisers we also had some other dish Nadia's within my cooking subcommittee try to generate as more every morning woman as well so I can speak to that he wants but yeah I think you make a very good point I just want to make sure the parents know that we don't how is dropping tuition to drop in France first and foremost I think the school needs to have brought her options and we are thinking through all those options including the virtual High School including virtual classes we're sticking through these options to kind of see what can we do to try to remove from the definition because we are constrained and turns our capacity we will always have some level of off of deficit risk here at the our facility because I just wanted to point out that in a week we're Limited in the number of Islamic schools here and you know we want to support the school as much as possible and it was just important to know what are the restrictions that the school has as well financially I appreciate you actually explaining that in your presentation the one thing I'll say is you don't have because we are where we are a tenant at our facility so I don't know who doesn't own any of the property we basically our leasing phone call all the rooms in the spaces that we have their dedicated to the volume on school so it's not like they want to kick us out of reason but we do pay a percentage of operational expenses from the IR for those classrooms in space that we use on average comes out to that 135 between $25 and $25,000 a year it may go up a size but that's just the percent that we pay as I'm not on your page of Hispanics and so does a gun we'll have to see what happened talk with you later and see what we can do with that with that commitment but that isn't that also you know we're we're not playing but not renfree we are basically supporting the operational call so they are put that footprint that we use so just make sure not sure where that is yeah I will say like strategically Imran is very knowledgeable about financial assets and large institutions professional life he's been proposing a way to model out the financial situation that we can track in a way that really we can understand the lovers that are happening to the school that really impact its future Financial viability so I think I might my My Hope Is that we as a board will come together over the next year and figure out how to not only track that but identify those levers and maximize the the Strategic ones were really Financial longevity and you are just really good thing if I think you're on here yeah I mean we're still kind of in the beginning figuring this question out of financial strategy for the school I think brother for those touch on a couple of important things which is how can we drive Revenue outside of the simple tuition increases how can we create additional I'm in the bank, but also I think we as a school need to kind of get a better grasp of our total expenses and their new expenses to as brother for those mentioned i r School rent payment relatively New Concept to the school or just the last few years and so all of this is a work-in-progress I think the control over the next year or two as we fine-tune the model and as we emerge from covid-19. LOL as the IR self grows will hopefully be able to refine the kind of financial operational model and get to a point where we'll have additional resources and I think maybe the underlined question that the sister was asking was kind of how can we increase the overall resources and I think once we get the model in place once we figure out the big picture of the IR and a good life and Charlie will be in a position to really start to itemize those resources and fig how to build them out whether it's additional facilities or more teachers more clubs more overall school activities whatever the case may be, and I just one last note on that it's like way more complex than we would hope in the end like the population the constituents here like the Muslims in the Triangle right and the parents there so many diverse needs different economic social economic status this different ethnicities different needs for the students in that population so I think also it's like for the school to figure out exactly how does it generate Revenue in accordance to optimizing for those constituents because I'll give you an example of what I'm talking about if you increase tuition a lot you could have smaller class sizes that you could have more land eventually but then you lose out on a lot of people that that want to have their kids and just out of school so we're really trying to figure out that that sweet spot in the middle I think we did a tradition raise I think actually beat DaVita that we did that tuition raise but it was only like you like very very very small percentage and that was to account for the salary so you also got this balancing act as like the salaries of the teachers and they need to be at least come public school with that progress until a lot of time we spent before covid-19 to figure out how to compensate teachers in a way that made their life not unbearable punishment for working here so that's a balance on balancing act point about the teachers you know it's it's important to retain our teachers because of their the quality of Education that they provide and experience that the game so of course what is fast like what was the help that as parents as we can provide and tuition was important point to it but I appreciate everybody chipping in and answering that question specifically thanks a lot so much respect the one thing that parents can can help with in addition to sign up for the BTS Ellen and helping there be you know what I'm bassadors to the tell their friends and family even people who don't have children to create that awareness about the cool and the role it plays in in building that next generation of I think that would go a long way in terms of you know that opportunity 4 people even if they don't have necessarily kids that they want to sign up for the school maybe because of location or because they're already gone to college or things like that we talked to people who are interested in sponsoring me the kids are sponsoring you know helping out where you know continuous education for some of the teachers and I think u.s. balance talking about what your personal experiences with your circle of influence would go a long way towards creating a thank you brother working in as a position that I would talk to the other position what position is going to come of them had good good opinion about the school so I'm not so much and always comes to the education it always boils down to the education and I always try to push you know we all I prefer Islamic education and the other education we can always ship in at home as well but it's such an important thing for the school to keep running and financially was so important to understand and I think it kind of makes more sense now I'm happy to sit down with an any man actually sent out a step-by-step procedure and I want to say it's on the website under cover 19 response briefly I will say just to address this that the question about will quarantine be mandated for all and how transparent the information will be number one our top priority is safety of the school in the community as you know where am I number of Islamic Association of Raleigh we have people coming to Jemima coming to prayer so we have to not only think about the health and safety of students and staff members but also at large of the community so the number one thing that we do for transparency is we protect the medical confidentiality of everyone so we'd have something like all other organizations called I need to know basis so if you are affected if your child was affected you will know immediately if your child was not directed you will not know because you don't need to know and it's our responsibility ethically and legally to maintain the confidentiality of anybody in the school I'm with medical issues that's number one number two it is not always a mandate of quarantine there thing called Contact racing we work very closely with the epidemiologist at the Wake County Health Department we know her by name email phone calls text messages on the whole shebang whether it's through me or our first line sister Amanda tattoos are medical professional so I'm we're not making any of these rules on we are not recreating the cycle this is a cycle that's already set in place by the state's health department and we let work closely with them step by step as to what we should do everyone who needs to be contacted contacted immediately it is not a community issue so if it's if it is not a community issue that Community is not made aware again because of that medical confidentiality you also will receive we report all cases to the Wake County department on because they have to take report of that and you will receive a phone call not only from our Medical Professional but also the Wake County Health Department they are the ones driving this effort they're the ones clearing people to go back to school and we are offering in the data we have are medical professional a man goes through a full assessment because so much of the Cove advisors us and so much of knowing who to quarantine went to quarantine was anybody exposed is based on symptom ology like when was this student having symptoms and what the sentence they were having and where they were at the time I'm into that point I will speak to that's one of the huge advantages of the hybrid schedule we have going on we have those spaced-out days so I found it in that we have found that a lot of the times that works to our advantage when somebody has become sick they were not on whole property and the whole organization together as one so it's not like this school can reach out to the City of Raleigh independently and say hey we want to put trailers on you know a parking lot we need more space for a classroom so I'm a member of the school committee and the IR I did reach out to the city after getting the requisite approvals from the IR to explore the trailer option and what were you learned was that the city does have some flexibility for schools need expansion space dudakovic however there's a process in place that can take some time and it could have longer-term implications on the IR that are really difficult trust you either prepare for or even really have the capacity to address for example you must as a organization besides of the IR have a certain number of parking spaces available throughout the week because of the number of activities and Jamal and so on so we can't take out you know 10 or 20 parking spaces for additional trailers that would violate and of the longer-term requirements of the IR to operate so many considerations there we did talk to them and again the option is leave the off the table but there are so many hurdles and cost is just one of them I think the sister mentioned you know if there was an interested contributor to this cost by itself when we looked at it was something like in a low 100,000 range for pepper to trailers set the temperature at least significant upfront cost to build out because the infrastructure you know you have to have stairs and a deck and depending on the size of the classroom in which kids you have their own Islamic school so there's a very complex process but there is a question around the other Friday schedule for students at USF to Faria tending so I'm sorry if you feel comfortable you can address that question or steak 101 with the individuals I'm awake I'm sure no problem just do a quick talk about the schedule on Friday when making the decision at the beginning of the year A lot of it was based on two factors number one the fact that the Friday Friday many people from the community do the school and for the safety really have our own family and our own students we have made the decision that it would be best to use Friday the 8th I'm going to stay because we didn't want to pay potentially cross-contamination with members of the community in case there was the cocodrilo latest case in the community that was the first reason and that reason still hold because we are still in such a limit to the pandemic and atteberry edible stage at this point the second consideration for the Fridays was for the teachers in particular the and I know I've talked to some parents separately this has been an extraordinary effort teachers do best with students and wish that they could have their students everyday and see them everyday but unfortunately due to a pandemic they've had to really reinvent the way they teach and their transfer different type of teaching and are have had to give it so quickly to teaching the spiritual the hybrid model some of our teachers are doing both at the same time that Friday allows for extra planning the Friday allows for more focus on 100% virtual student end up Friday allows for our teachers to wrap up the week but that's really go ahead and wrap up all the other things that they have to do so as of right now we don't see any changes for the Friday but a sister I mentioned we do meet with a coded key midi every week and that is not something that we feel that we will get to and it will be recommended of course based on in our local community spread local data I'm still working with the other community members that are on site and then as quickly as we can get back to normal so these are the reasons why we do have Fridays asynchronous appoint to know what is that in weight cow they had originally also had just done started with five days of teaching but looking thing the burden of the teachers they actually have now Wednesday and I just think on this day as well so it is recognized really not only across the state that this is a burden on teachers and that extra day of a synchronous work allows them to make sure questions I've been hearing about facilities and you know the school and in that meeting they had mentioned that there I've been zoning and approval for school facilities at Page Road is the Altamont school board part of the discussion for that facility how far along are we on that and does the school have the funds for it or is the I are taking care of that project contact with you are you are and they're planning construction Committee in you in a board of directors as early as almost over a year ago when they were released on a kickoff that Pedro project the halim I can participate as well how the school can participate on on their property to go original either the property was based off of just take this to the peninsula and established a community there and then they rezoned it so that includes classrooms the thinking was that you know I'm the love with the school Community can drive also a larger community and build a larger massage it and an overall community in the area and then we seen that here in Raleigh so kind of the same approach have approached the school or email school about helping to participate in that now we have you know we know what they're kind of the floor plans look like ensure that with us he's going to give them feedback on the floor pans and whatnot so there is ongoing discussion of there is commitment the only man I will need to make financially in order for this to work and it is a very very significant financial commitment and right now at this time it is not something that we would say I would say I'm comfortable making fun of impacting disco I think your approach that I think the RAC has been always been discussing is how how to be free and a strategy specific for that location without impacting disqualification financially it's still early I think they'll discussion kind of tapered off as covid-19 got going on so I stay from their perspective there a lot of focus is still in in that area and I'll pay you a rose will continue be a discussion I don't know when what time line or decisions will be made or won't even begin thinking about actually doing something with that honestly I think right now our focus is this year getting through this year and then evaluating what what's the financial impact that we're going to have to take if we want to what are the appropriate it's not significant it is hundreds of thousands of dollars just to just to set up that property load alone the operational calls post that so there is a whole different budget it's a whole different open itself right and that is a very large test at that happened now I think this new funny question to parents if we have another location where there's here in Raleigh or invade Road would Paris be more comfortable having a high school and I say that because right now we do have Pre-K day and I know we have capacity issues on Pre-K date but we also need a high-school for our kids are graduating and getting into the into the social environment in public schools so that's a nice memories and then bfp back I'd really appreciate the feedback from parents as well to stay if we have the opportunity and then if we have funds and we have all those things I would rather be a high school versus a kindergarten teacher door weather Middle School an important question I think for our school Community as a whole to take off Dracula SMS got his hand up I have to question one came as a result of that question the questions and comments the previous question, is there any plan for the long-term strategic planning of elements to kind of form its own independent operations procedure separate from the eye are especially since you talked about maybe developing a high school or go to the long-term planning with Samantha just like some of that operations issues and then my second question was if it's an unrelated question but are there opportunities for parents who aren't on the the to be involved whether I'm a capacity of just listening or submitting questions to the ASD to their monthly meetings just to kind of get a better idea of what's going on or always to either contribute those are my questions I missed your first question if you can repeat that answer the second question first yes there's a I think her parents bills are interested in joining the AFC committee more than welcome anybody wants to participate and help the goal is always there when members who joined at their active members that they take actual steps to move the school forward you know iiii Presley you know why I have a committees either here or at work having folks to sit at the table and just be a present I think this is not what I'm looking for by the chair I really want my members to be actionable to make help make decisions call but also take actions are all the hands how can I make school better help what can I do to improve our school on vision and strategy and then inform him from fiction stand for so if you're willing to do that I think there's going to be always room for folks in the committee again so I think one of the biggest means we have right now is always constantly understanding of Revenue opportunities and how do we get additional revenue of today's but it's cool outside that's always been something is there someone who has quotes about Grant's a grant specialist who knows that inside out that's very big need for the for the committee at this point and another one was kicked off the the Immokalee subcommittee so those people for has experience in advertising marketing understudy marketing strategies another Timothy there for the school canceled there is I think there's definitely opportunity for folks to help him join and then drive some of our programs for it up so late and your first question was so my first question is there any strategic planning for how to get mine to become starlets on Independence or institution that separate from the IR and then if you could just add on my my first question is really are the board meetings open to the public so that the community-at-large whether they want to be involved on a day-to-day basis or not our or are we is it open to us to sort of know what's going on behind the scenes instead will having to wait for the boar to present their reports or for us to see some of the fruits of the labor that's kind of like that was more of like the committee have to do a little better job of creating updates detailing amount may be posting them on our site so parents at the you know those before after this multi-billion to take a mobile discussed and and and what are some of the outcomes and actions taken the next one I think number two Wake County for example what kind of board they do have open meetings for their constituents right for the stakeholders weather now we have open meetings where you can come and ask questions and submit to many questions at a time I think it's a great idea we can create that for are we can print a mechanism or a channel to do that I think that's a great idea for for parents to do that but I think opening it up during the meeting that's a question I think I'll have to bring back to my committee to see but the thoughts are close to meeting yes we can probably do it job of making sure that our meeting minutes are ghosts that we do have any minutes they are in our system and envy do you know I used to provide a monthly update to the least of your staff to the Administration staff will discuss as much as that information that's out that's valuable on our website if I need to do a better job of that but yeah that's one thing if he the committee will take back we can figure out how how would you have a much much closer or do I get after yeah I mean I think if you have suggestions on that to your house and like let us know it's not there are parts that have to be voted on there are parts that are confidential if we're talking about like a staff right Staffing the school salaries or something but there's a lot of stuff that could be open but I don't know who you know ideas are welcome I think especially if we would discuss it internally. Cuz I think I mean some of the observations I've heard from some parents that a greater sense of transparency between all of the stakeholders in this community would be much appreciated because I think the board has done a good job here of of of of of articulating is that where all stakeholders right like nobody's doing us a favor and there's no school without the parents and there's no you know and the students and then there's no school. The teachers in the difficult with like right now there's information overload so you know you put it in the email people are going to Archive it so do a how many of us every email that we get about the school even cuz you know so I don't know what the best Avenue would be but our dark desires definitely transparency the first person that you sell separate in the I are members a couple weeks ago they presented a phenomenal slide on this show the impact of school next to the IR there's a mutual relationship between the IR in the school's on and I'm talking all three schools but also be mindful of the Iraq would struggle Wells Fargo this Mutual relationship and I think we always have to look at it from that perspective say if we're always been a community school and we believe that in our heart and soul as part of a Community we have to support our community which is the IR which is now in Charlevoix MI expand other communities as well so it might mind is there a need to be fun to be separate from the school of a r i don't I would not believe that but if there's benefits we get out of the Navy because of zoning maybe because we can do Spanish and maybe to do other things then we would consider right but we would still have a relationship with her would never would never put that what she said some sort of different relationship but one would always exist outside and I'll give you an example like a tangible example of a song about if there's a grant that would be eligible for it right now or under the umbrella to exclude us from certain Financial Federal funding of Grants because of the religious institution so if there is an incentive to move it out from under that then we could explore that the pros and cons of it and make the decision yeah that's a good point to the argument School I don't know is a separate LLC limited liability Corporation from the IR so legally and financially we are separate from the IR on paper so what that doesn't exactly as they just pointed out to including fact the PDP grant that we got we got our own separate peace be Grant from what I are received because of that fact and so there are specific reasons we already financially separate from a legal perspective so we can take advantage of this type of thing I don't know what a PPP Grant is it again protection program program has it something that came out of the cares act from the federal government during covid-19 as part of last year's stimulus what it does what are allowed the small business to do is based on their payroll and based on the number of full-time employees if they have there is a calculation that happens what the government doesn't give you a grant cover your payroll for a certain.
