About Me!

Salaam! I am excited to join Al-Iman School as the 6th and 7th grade English teacher. Here
is a little bit about my educational and professional background. I was born and raised in NYC,
where I completed my Bachelor’s degree, double majoring in English in Adolescent Education
and Hebrew. Side note- I love learning new languages (took 5 in college). I acquired my New
York State Teaching Certificate (ELA, grades 7-12) and completed my Master’s degree in
English Literature. After getting married, I moved to Philadelphia, obtained my Pennsylvania
Teaching Certificate, and taught at an Islamic school in Philly for a couple years before taking
time off to raise my now 5-year-old daughter. We moved to North Carolina earlier this year and
over the summer, I acquired my North Carolina Teaching Certificate adding 6th grade to my
license as well.

While deciding between teaching at an Islamic school versus a public school or non-
Islamic private school, the former has always won out for me. I believe Islamic school is so
important for the younger generation. An Islamic education equips students with the tools to
navigate the challenges of the modern world while remaining firmly grounded in their beliefs,
promoting tolerance, and fostering a sense of unity within the community. Students not only gain proficiency in academic subjects but also develop a deeper understanding of Islam. This is why I chose to teach at Al-Iman School and look forward to a fun educational year ahead insh’Allah!
