Both of our part of the education officers on the board will be China and as we go to the space station tonight we're going to go ahead and discuss the overall vision of the Islamic Studies curriculum move on to some reasons why it's important to continue updating curriculum in our schools and in our in our school and various areas including Islamic Studies how we're going to get there on this path that we are working to improve in our stomach so use Quicken Loans and then finally talked a little bit about what topics you want to cover and how we we're going about this process a little bit more detail cell division of the Islamic Studies curriculum that we have been working on for the past I would say it since the summer is to provide a stomach ache Vision through teaching research and community service to help our Muslim American students become more aware of their identity history of Islam relevance to present-day Global awareness and to appreciate the Islamic etiquette ethics and values to contribute to both Muslim Community create a community nation and world that is a very loaded statement but that is really the essence of what is driving the work that we have been doing for the Islamic Studies curriculum to take these different areas and see how we can we've it through an updated truculent that allows our students to really Encompass that decision that we are working towards and Cholla as all Creek elem there are several for us to work to update our quick Cricket looms one of the main areas is that there is a demand of knowledge changes as our world is changing we have to keep up with it and in order to do that we also have to keep up with the knowledge that give our students what our students probably needed 20 years ago is very different than what they need today so in order to keep up with the demands of changes in our world and around us we have to also keep up with our own curriculum another area is looking to increase student engagement of course the way students learn is changing drastically I'm sure as parents we all see that every day so we also have to make sure our curriculums are up-to-date in this area we want to make sure that we're just addressing contemporary issues through our curriculum and those issues get more challenging and change several times through the forests of yours child's schooling and we want to make sure we are working to address those contemporary issues to expand and integrate more social emotional learning into our curriculums to make sure that we're taking care of our hold our children and that whole child ask not just one area to build on our chair learning experiences that we already have that were working through in the school and of course most important to establish a solid foundation on confidence and RD in which is one of the most important reasons for updating our curriculums to make sure or that we are getting our kids a solid foundation as they move into young adults and adults and the future I am going to go over and hand it over to an education offers officers will talk a little bit about how we are working on this path and chaala cistern at the end brother Nene whenever this is my second year in the role and so our role is to just Overlook the education at a demon and in particular to work closely with the administration to help support the teachers and students and child law and so we begin making a path through developing a new Islamic Studies curriculum and so toward the end of the school year last year we focused on creating a vision and themes that could relate to our student population so by this summer of 2022 we establish this vision and we created this list of things and we presented these themes to our Administration and it sunk City's teacher and we received feedback from the teachers throughout the first half of the school year I'm still by early December of 2022 we got our final feedback in regard to the vision and themes that we worked on and in that time we also begin to conduct research and teachers are continuing to fill in the unpacking document which really presents to us a foundation to the curriculum map that shows us do you know what are of the Islamic Studies education from pre-k up to eighth grade and so at this point in the school year and we are mapping out the new Eddie Mann school Cemetery standard and so we begin process in November and so we're aligning the standards with the vision in the themes that we've created over the summer and still from the vision and themes we've established its domain be talking about shortly and from that we're working through this new assignment studies dangerous that's specifically for any of my school teachers and students and so our goal and Charla is by this April I will comply the newest sanitary standards and then we will be moving into the curriculum development phase and so that is where we will be creating these inquiry-based instructional materials and will be using a specific a blueprint model for teachers to implement the content into their classrooms and this would be a first aligned with appropriate sources in August in sha Allah we plan to provide teachers with professional development training on to use the updated its IMAX is curriculum and then in the fall of 2023 and Cholla teachers would be able to begin implementation of the new Sonic that is critical on Friday and so as an overview in the broader picture here the things that we've created our the following so we have opted Leda and the foundations of Islam a bad that and spirituality and this is something that do diabetics pressure is spirituality theme is something that we're trying to heavily targeted specifically the spirituality themed and then we have the society than we have in the qualities of a most of them were also focusing on Islamic history and the connections that could be made with the mainstream history and discussing the issues and which you know our students space in our community in the society over all the young Heroes of Islam as well as it's amick activism and social ultimately it's something that we're trying to also a ride just to spread the guy that guidance and building and that self-confidence of their most of them American identity and so from developing themes that we have established we done created Six Dimensions and then those six dimensions we began to create the Andes are specifically that Islamic Studies Teaching Standards so the first I mention here is the Ted beyond the 2nd Dimension is the Contemporary thoughts and life the third dimension is still a happy that in a bad way the fourth dimension is put Annex Petty's in The Fifth Dimension is Brett Rolla tea 6th. tension is Islamic history now each of that we have developed will go under these dimensions and then can you talk we did also hyperlink our working documents into this presentation as well for you to see as well as specially the samples for the standards just to see how the guidance will go in Shelton. and as far as the sources go we've ultimately really created a very long list of resources that is really available for us to utilize and child law and this was actually one of the first steps that we took once we took on this role and so we met with a lot of curriculum developer as we've explored and examined and analyzed a very of curcumin cereals that could be applicable to the Islamic Studies education we have any man so as a brief overview here to we do have access to all of these resources that I just listed on this slide a lot more that we have but from this year we do have access to are Europeans crackle on the unity production foundation work Lotte Tri-Creek Islamic Health series curriculum the radiant lamp book how much you can offer a little bit more on that one international bucks. Is selling materials and a lot of other projects that we can pull in pieces and content from as far as the university and research we do have access to research promote universities including NC State's College of Education while we've got the height on the center at NC State UNC Center for Middle East and Islamic Studies we also have access to juice Islamic City Center and many more we can also Envision in the near future on some potential School Partnerships with people that we know what these particular schools through Legacy High School and Islamic school of Irving and any man has already established and actually has a well-established a partnership with two wonderful National organizations which are the Council of Islamic schools in America as well as the Islamic League of America in so this is our overall progress right now or the Islamic Studies education for any and I will I can sense another thank you so much for your presentation just a wrap up this this part of of our community and we want to bring that give you the updates of the parents of our students here at the school inshallah Nordstrom Rack so the last time we spoke I given up. about what we started walking on to figure out an expansion strategy for the school so since then we've been working toward finalizing our vision and how we want to proceed forward and one of the things that we we decide to come up with a c in for for this whole effort to change the pastor Stan and it's a spot along with everything happening in Syria and turkey the support that we get from the pie of course is very important for the mission that we are trying to drive to work so this is a lot of getting better as Muslims and putting that into our society and invest our time and effort ideas and actions to to make things better for our kids and Shamrock so one of the major updates that I want to talk about we represented something similar to what we're walking you through today to our store and the purpose of that presentation was to get buy-in from from the shooter in terms of the strategy that we are initiating and also we are trying to move in Atlanta signing a contract for a specific property when I going to share information about it came ashore to share those details but it was a good constructive conversation martial law I am sure is full of people in the same mindset in terms of dedicating their time to to this community that we have and Robbie measure for whether our strategy is actually holding water or not then we got lots of questions and lots of advice from the show able to obtain initial approval to get into a due diligence contract with this particular we're looking at 2 to see if we can get this new property but one of the major updates to our vision from last time I spoke to you guys about what we're trying to do is that we eat we spent some time trying to figure out what's the best way to scale I move forward with support in larger student body and also figuring out how to start high school support and one of the things that became very clear to us through the what station is having a clear strategy of Ethan everything in one campus is going to bring acceleration terms of achieving our goals but also efficiencies that brings for day-to-day operations will also make for a smooth scared for our operations so that's the big decision that we made this to to try to find the place big enough for the students we have today and the students we are anticipating to need to support in the future. the growth strategy we were trying to put together like a puzzle that it's it's basically building part of it what you just listened about the you know developing and improving organic studies curriculum is honestly finding a place with some walls to get the kids into is probably the easiest part of this that's what you do once you have the space when once you have the kids and how to make sure that you are developing stomach values and personality and identity into those kids so they can move with confidence into into the future that either of them that's the hard part of operational figuring out how we're going to use the bigger space how we going to do you know welcome more students that's kind of foundation or for us and then we spend lots of time trying to figure out if I this is a big projects in so this is probably the most expensive transaction that is not how we going to pay for this is also another layer that we were trying to see how it fits within the timeline that aggressive timeline. We are driving to work and then you know the last piece of the puzzle is of course the high school and how to support our children from pre-k all the way until they are ready to enter into college in Charlotte so they're trying to fit together within our strategy that is something that is kind of obvious to some of you that deal with this day and they are but not to everyone so it was worth emphasizing that as we started thinking about different options and we had lots of questions and conversations with parents of students we needed to make sure that people understood you know the difference between school project versus Justin and Islamic center that is trying to establish a salon. this came out of the different conversations we would have in around but what do we do with Paige road is that a good option for us is that going to support the strategy is I cannot get in the way and unwind most important thing you do when you have a school to the location is extremely important that you guys are driving twice a day just you know drop off pick up 5 days a week and not counting any extra activities or things about the kids do after hours and things of that nature so the vision that we wanted to something that that makes it really easy for parents to to come and join us in this adventure. So not a thing we looked at is the grocery now we have a very long wait list from last year getting longer and we just started opening the enrollment for this year's couple of weeks ago we already exceeded the number of students 120 140 time I checked so families are trying to get their kids into a demon school and get that in a proper education shop in addition to be able to enhance the programmatic aspect of what the school offers is also you know if we're starting to think it's time for the school and of itself you have its own identity it's kind of mixed with and I are like 23 so that's a little bit. is it school today so you wanted to bring all these elements together in this project and that that's primarily what could lead us to the decision that really having a bigger campus is what we should be looking for at this moment so we'll walk you through that gender you know the other thing I wanted to point out this you know we've been talking about this penchant for a long time I was part of the previous a team that that was trying to get something off the ground and honestly it's more important right now with the pressure of the waiting list with the pressure off you know parents having some serious news about their kids identity in the public school system with with all the things that are happening around us in the world within the us but those are outside there is no I haven't seen as big a demand for having an environment that can the nurses the kids and give them songs foundation for a better life that it's been these last two years so I'm trying to pull a person's of a standard for this project in Charlotte would be able to to deliver on that so just to remind everybody know this is like that song but can you put it in one fried our vision is really trying to find and build an accessible state-of-the-art campus that allows us to a phased approach to accommodate current and future improvements and ultimately be able to support High School phone number to Sun community in Brawley. But then to the day I'm sorry I'm talking to all the stakeholders we've dug into we started talking within the school committee itself with Administration that are strong collaboration there and I'm trying to figure out how we going to structure today we met with I have a school board for the Washington and helps we're going to figure it out. strategy for for all the school so there's no conflict when we met with them we got the feedback for commercial appositive of esteem you know about that that's kind of like I said I thought it was was a great conversation and it was it was very it was a very productive and I feel like I I that we have in our back trying to get us to move forward and continue fast forward without having a one step forward two steps back and stumbling across the Finish Line Charlotte we also met with with the staff and faculty at the school Michelle Duffy. now we're meeting with a parent we want to hear from everybody because this is a project for the community this is our 30th Anniversary Charles of us will continue at least 30 more years in the future so understanding how everybody feels about this plan how they fit in it this is something very important to me and everybody who is involved in in the as we started execution we Canna we needed some guiding principles to guide our Direction and we came up with these pillars of girl and I think it's important to can elaborate a little bit on these because it will become clear that we we have in 2 hours engine making process and I wanted to bring salaam alaikum everybody their brother will. Hey brother what God said we might identify these pillars and these are really guiding our process so number one we want to build on the many successes of the past muscle of the school has a 30-year tracker to record of successes but we've also had consistently High academic performance both among our public and private school peers and we want to leverage our robust strength and demand for our current pre-k through 8th grade offerings to extend resources to a high school now this is something that we hear a lot about from many many parents not just within our current school but beyond across the the Raleigh Muslim Community is when is the high school coming when is the high school coming we've had this conversation 4 because we've been talkin about establishing high school for many years and in trouble through this expansion plan will actually have the the physical facilities to begin rolling out the high school program we long been talking about number two is operational Independence this is a really important key to the future of the school as the school continues to grow the challenges of sharing sharing facilities with the Masjid are not just inconveniences anymore they're really blocking the progress of the school and as many of you probably know for example on Friday as many of our children are not able to go outside and play or do the same kind of physical exercise is because of scheduling challenges with Jeremiah and crowd couldn't call info on that kind of a an inconvenience will ultimately lead to the school not being able to make the progress it needs to across many different front of we want the school to programmatically robust as you heard some of the other school, a talking about with the curriculum Evolution and in order for all of those things to happen we need the space and Independence over that space to offer those programs and of course it should be noted as many of you again already know older students particularly Middle School in above required diverse and expanded spaces for a whole new set of programs that they need for a comprehensive education as they get older number three this goes to a question that we got in the chart student safety is not negotiable interactions with external non students can be unsafe for students and we see this all over the place including just unfortunate yesterday in Durham when a high school student was behind his high school and the Hillside High School this is a serious issue across the country safety is up a major concern and that is certainly the case for us at ugly month School our current campus is very secure with the but the police department partnership and the IR security we still have thousands of people coming through our campus on a on a weekly basis for the other IR programs we need to maximize the safety of our body and in order to do that we need complete control of all activities within the premises of the school number for a new campus is a necessary first step for broader school goals new classes in the space to run are needed to achieve academic Excellence we Michelle although the school has accomplished a lot we still have aspirations to grow and be even better up on the academic spectrum and we believe that an expanded campus will allow us to do that but a comprehensive vacation particularly in high school is not just about the classes it's about extracurricular activities sports clubs Etc we need space for that and then of course we have many students now in our community who need a unique set of resources in pool and so we need to be able to at some point Down the Road in Charlotte provide for them as well and again a fundamental need for those students to space the last pillar of our growth is you experts to facilitate informed decision-making Marshall of this community and this school have reached a scale now where we don't need to rely on volunteers, entirely to get our major goals done week reach out to the experts in their respective fields to support us so this particular Endeavor I need my school has engaged three Professional Services firms to help us number one we've engaged the commercial real estate brokerage Jones Lang LaSalle witches they regarded in the Triangle region is one of the best representative firms in this market they are helping us look for opportunities in this market number 2 is real estate in transactional law anything we do whether it's buying a campus or leasing space or doing any other kind of structure requires a very comprehensive legal structure that protects the school from liability and ensures the longevity and success in Charlotte School Parker Poe is one of the top law firms in the Southeast and we have engaged them to advise us on any legal transaction and number three is architecture and design a great school is one that's really well. and that's designed with students in mind and the families who utilize that campus h.h. architecture is a raleigh-based design firm that has really interesting experience doing public private and Charter Schools across the state that we have partnered with to do some of our preliminary planning and make sure that our design thinking reflects the best practices of schools today call kelechi B aspirations and become a leading School in the leading Islamic school in the US now I'll just go ahead and say this my personal opinion I imagine many of the school committee members agree my school has the potential to become the best school in the state of North Carolina. We should be competing for the best teachers we should be competing to have the highest test scores and perhaps most importantly to most of us we be raising righteous children with strong belief with outstanding practice and a commitment to serving humanity is this school has the potential we have done incredible things over the years but a new cat this can really help us unlock those aspirations and move them forward so like I said we are trying to start a due-diligence process with a specific property will not going to share that property now but what we are sharing here we we are asking for feedback when I left that we are using to to find a new campus for the school so like I said capacity is very important so we can go right away but we have room to grow even down the road and Charla we were looking for something that allows us to start high school and be able to build the facility is not just a classroom. Also other facilities needed to address that the student experience all those kids and we decided to stay within 5 miles from our current location to the idea is this and Charlotte will not burden staff Tri-County parent-teacher conference the current students they are located from the current location and that's what two letters to the 5-mile radius criteria we did some exercise for the but waited listed wait-listed families as well and we believe that within five miles would be convenient, Dayton School m95 percent of students that we have today and she trusts you and then we started like I'm done with saying with Gerald we we actually looked at several properties I think we went through five or six properties before we settled on this shallow once we get the point we're Charlemagne for our fundraiser on February 25th that I'm hoping to see all of you will be able to share more details about location so in addition to everything else we also want to talk about 2k what are we going to do programmatically in this new space how we the student experience the staff the teachers and the parents to justify area is going to cover the next few slides talking about these different. I don't think your brother weather so as we look forward in Charlotte to expanding our physical space we want to make sure that our Focus as it is for you and for all our families is our children your children to make sure that we're developing them as a holistic play not just in one area but in all areas we know we're limited right now on our campus for a certain reason to schedule running at it we're out of space we and we hoping she'll on that were able to with more space at our programming like brother I had mentioned to have more spaces to have more Summit programming provide academic education through Islamic teaching more space for just mental physical and social well-being for children. play full experience in in that model of Excellence that we've been discussing and you know brother what that on the waitlist we're right now in admissions season and it's getting harder to say no to family just because we don't have that place cuz they are very concerned with their children's upbringing and the way the world is changing so quickly so we wear it really that's one of the biggest guides a guiding forces is to is Our intention to just be able to provide more students with M Islamic education in the stomach environment so of course for this group here the most important thing is to see what we can add for our children what can we do with more spaces so when were talking to her students at intellectual and their academic growth growth we want to be able to give them more Hands-On opportunities for example and more VR science lab to increase our Arts educational programming both Visual and Performing Arts we know we're Limited in this area because we're using every space we can as a classroom right now to make sure I can have kids in to enhancing different student program I know we had this Vision if we have more space we can get our kids involved in more competitions with other Islamic schools but also with other faith-based schools because it's important to teach your kids how to deal with everybody within the realm of hours so to be able to bring other schools on to our campus to have give our students more opportunity to lead presentation that opportunities which forms leadership and using more outdoor space for getting our kids keeping them healthy and it's really important to us we try our best right now but you know we all know that we have some limitations so that big dream is to be able to give the kids a really nice space to just really take care of their kids self as well in Charlotte and I'm sure that's something we all want as Terran of course going on with that physical development we would love to be able to have areas where we can begin and a kids take part in competitive Sports so it's important to develop our kids and all different ways some are great in the classroom some are gray on the basketball court some are great on the soccer field you want to make sure we give all the different opportunities for the kids who have those gifts in different areas or it's his one or you know we have lots of great athletes I want to be able to give them the chance to work competitive competitive and to you know beyond a single team with pride and excellent so that is something I would love to see Michelle has this will expand and most forward also to be again connected to an outdoor healthy environment to have proper space Justino nice areas to eat at home the best now the canopy slots helping out with the sun and all that stuff but we want to keep going forward with what we get our kids we would like to also focus more on their Spiritual Development and I know this was in the chat for exam Jim up with bugs I know a lot of schools that are able to host their own PlayBuzz either bring it up at the eaves that really give but Buzz that are aligned to our student interest that are the topics are relatable to our students sometimes the topics that are kids in third through eighth grade do attends are sometimes age of propria Tamar not so we want to be able to give her a kids you know take that opportunity for Jim up to allow them to have what does that are aligned to the raise level and also in Shell as we are high school to train our kids to train our young men to leave leave for the bus because ultimately what we're trying to develop is is students and children who will grow into adults that will eat are coming so these are all different ways that we can do that again I mentioned conferences Interfaith opportunities all of these different programming that can be added if we are able to have a little bit more space to do that Angela and just as important our students and our parents our staff is also a big part of this dream are stacked they must have they tried they do the day I do wonders with the space we have now but we would love to give and more as well to be able to recruit more of the best and the brightest to make our offering one that is very compelling for people to want to come and work with us to increase Morales and eggs or that our staff know that they're part of our organization that is moving forward that is not going to settle for a second Steve B is always working towards a model of Excellence to give them a little bit more space for different different things we do a lot of stuff sharing on our campus right now so you'll have to get them a little bit more lots of storage space that would be a big dream for us we know and just to have your own campus so we aren't sharing space as much as we are right now and then you know when it comes to education that it's always the student to teach the teachers staff and then the parents which are you we would love to be able to give parents were opportunities different volunteer opportunities via coaching a sport Gambia coming in and getting leadership seminars but just to bring in the town that I know this group has because we are blessed with a great talent if you're both parents so to bring you more and to do more stuff would be fabulous also program until parents benefit from the extended stomach School community and to get an ultimately to give the state of our facility to our families because we know if I'm going to take a shin is an investment the message your children and we aim to give the best and working towards that inshallah and I think in terms of actions that we've taken I talked about where we are now in terms of finding a location one question that I think people had some I can't see the chat so maybe somebody has to go to the last time we met we had questions about Pedro it so as you can see from the strategy we decided Page Road is not a good fit for what we're trying to do so I just wanted to clarify that but Richard Locke we're getting very close to identifying a location be able to be in a position to share those details with you so what we're shooting for is nuts for next year but the year after hopefully we'll be able to have the players have it ready so we can start moving there in 24 2024 Charla and as you can see this is an aggressive plan to as soon as we make that we are looking to to start high school initiative team and that team will basically be in charge of coming up with a full proposal for how we going to start I program it so that I get is by 2025 we will start expanding our grades into high school so we can have all the details with the shallow we have lots of good energy and ideas around the first priority is to find. Nice location that allow us to track City realized retired detectives.
