Student Wellness

At Al-Iman School we support the holistic development of students through spiritual, physical and mental health.

Spiritual Development & Support

At Al-Iman School, nurturing students' spiritual growth is an essential part of our mission. We strive to help students develop a strong connection with Allah (SWT), understand their Islamic identity, and recognize how faith guides their choices, relationships, and daily lives.

Spiritual development is woven throughout the school experience through Qur'an and Islamic Studies instruction, daily salah, Islamic reminders, character development, assemblies, and opportunities for reflection and service. Students are encouraged to connect what they learn about Islam to how they live and interact with others.
Teachers, Islamic Studies staff, and school leadership work together to provide students with age-appropriate guidance and support as they navigate questions related to faith, character, personal responsibility, and their relationships with others. Through these experiences, Al-Iman School seeks to nurture students who are confident in their Muslim identity, grounded in Islamic values, and committed to continually growing in faith and character.

Physical Education & Athletics
At Al-Iman School, physical education and athletics support the development of healthy, active, and well-rounded students. Our program encourages students to care for their bodies as an amanah from Allah (SWT) while developing the skills, habits, and character needed for lifelong wellness.
Through physical education, students participate in age-appropriate activities that build strength, coordination, endurance, teamwork, and confidence. Students learn the importance of physical fitness, healthy choices, cooperation, and personal responsibility in an environment that encourages participation and growth.

Our athletics program extends these lessons beyond the classroom by providing students with opportunities to develop their skills through team sports and competition. Student-athletes are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship, discipline, perseverance, teamwork, humility, and respect for teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents.
Through both physical education and athletics, Al-Iman School seeks to develop students who value physical wellness, strive for excellence, work effectively with others, and represent their Islamic character both on and off the field.

Mental Health
Al-Iman School's Interventionist provides additional academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to help students succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Working collaboratively with students, teachers, families, and school administration, the Interventionist helps identify student needs and coordinates appropriate supports and interventions.
Services may include small-group academic support, individual or small-group behavioral support, student check-ins, progress monitoring, and collaboration with teachers and families. The Interventionist also supports staff through professional development, consultation, and strategies for meeting diverse student needs.
When students require additional support, the Interventionist helps coordinate meetings with families, teachers, administrators, and other appropriate team members to develop solutions and determine next steps. When needed, the Interventionist may also connect families and the school with community-based resources and outside services.
Through early intervention, collaboration, and ongoing monitoring, Al-Iman School strives to ensure that every student has the support needed to grow academically, socially, and behaviorally.
