About Me!

I grew up in a suburb in NY. where my parents grew up as well.  I was raised in a very nurturing and strict  family upbringing, which eventually made my transition to Islam very easy.  After pursuing my B.S. Communications degree at St. John’s University in NY, I married and moved to Saudi Arabia, where I spent 18 years, raising 14 children and teaching in a prestigious Islamic International school. I was the team leader for grades 2, 3, and 4. The school set the standards for how I would continue my teaching career, and Saudi Arabia set the standards for my goals of how I would raise my children in an Islamic environment. After returning to the USA, we settled in North Carolina. I immediately became a part of the IAR community, holding core positions with Muslim Seniors Empowerment Group, IAR Older Adult Committee, and offering monthly writing workshops for Muslim seniors in our community. Employed in the public schools here did not allow me the opportunity to reach my full potential in the classroom as a Muslim educator. Al Iman has given me that opportunity to fully immerse myself into teaching with the Islamic core values that I feel is a necessary component of our community. In such a short time as part of Al Iman School, I see that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am amongst a strong family of teachers who put their dedication and commitment first and foremost, which provides a welcoming atmosphere.  I have also transitioned my love of writing from a hobby into a passion; I am a published author, with many other works on the way.
